Here's your first thirty-something southerner.  He's a states' rights man given to long, rambling speeches (one of his speeches at the convention was five hours long!).  According to James Madison it was a speech of "much diffuseness and considerable vehemence."  He's a successful lawyer (later he will defend Aaron Burr in his treason trial) and a Convention walk-out.  Oh, did I mention he's also a heavy drinker.

I'm a heavy drinker too--he's perfect!

Not in a million years.
