How to Engage in Exploratory Thinking   (This is much easier if you are not an "absolutist"--that is, are the type of person who is the naturally open to ambiguity.) 1.  Put yourself in the position of having to address a knowledgeable audience about a topic (a judge, for example) and assume that your audience cares about accuracy. 2.  Seek out others to test your hypothesis--especially persons of contrasting views.
